Simple Transcoding and Live Syndication, but Pricing Has Risen Sharply

    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
It handles transcoding in a simple way, and allows us to also syndicate live streaming as needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost has gone up significantly since we've started with Wowza, it has gone 3x. It's live repeater technology is also somewhat confusing and not the best documented. Consuming WebRTC incoming streams also seems to struggle and require significant processing power compared to traditional RTMP.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need the ability to review our players game play for security purposes, and also we like to showcase high quality game play for spectating.

11 Years of Rock-Solid Reliability with Wowza Streaming Engine

    Reviewed on Jul 07, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
We have been using Wowza Streaming Engine at our company for 11 years now. With the myriad of things that can go wrong with live streaming - I can't think of a single instance where the issue was trace routed back to Wowza Streaming Engine. Amongst the myriad of variables - from live stream operator knowledge, internet hiccups and outages, gear malfunctions, CDN node outages and the variables that want to play interference with a successful live stream - I can whole heartedly say Wowza is bottom of the barrel in the "blame game". Admittedly we are ona fairly old version of Wowza Streaming Engine as we believe in "if it's not broke don't fix it" and it's been overwhelming solid. We use the software hosted on Azure VM's.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it takes a while to load all the way, and navigate around in the interface - even on a smoking Azure VM. That said - as we use an older version of Wowza Streaming Engine - this could have been fixed eons ago. Ultimately it's nothing cripping by any stretch.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wowza Streaming Engine solves our way of handling a variety of live streams operated by clients without having to deal with channels - we use Azure API to allow clients to boot up Azure and use the Wowza API to overlay streaming stats over the live stream - such as the stream uptime and quality. Basically knowing it's super reliable ensures we have clients operating live streams on the weekends without Wowza being in the equation for issues.

What do you like best about the product?
Highly dependable. Excellent Video quality. Versatility. Detailed analytics. Detailed billing. Straight forward user interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
Price tiering options. Limited support for lower tier. Documentation not consistent. Lack of user community. Limited notifications of changes that could impact reliability. Integration of new and legacy products not seamless. High data storage cost. Player limited. Play aesthetic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There's a large gap in available, "channel", persistent embed providers. Wowza allows us to provide a economical consistent online presence with a limited time investment in configuration. The high quality video reproduction and embed compatibility allows us to scale productions with confidence.

Efficient Streaming with Room for Support Improvement

    Reviewed on Apr 30, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the documentation provided by Wowza Streaming as it's quite helpful. I find it valuable that we use RTSP, RTMP, and HLS streaming, which are the features I use the most for streaming video. While I wasn't involved in the initial setup, from what I've heard, it seems like it was a smooth process.
What do you dislike about the product?
The support could be improved. Sometimes when the developers can't replicate an issue, they close the ticket, which can be frustrating. They should work to understand our environment better to help solve the problems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wowza Streaming eliminates the need to manage and maintain code for our own streaming application.
