Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so pricing scales with the compute resources you choose. Smaller shared-CPU types like the t2, t3, and t3a families suit lighter workloads. General-purpose m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5ad, m5d, m5dn, and m5n families offer more vCPU and memory as the size grows from large to 24xlarge and metal. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs. Select the instance that matches your performance and capacity needs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One hour reflects one running virtual machine of the chosen EC2 instance type, such as m5.large or t3.micro. The instance runs Minimal Oracle 7 provided by Tidal Media Inc. Each instance you launch is metered separately by the hours it runs.
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance does not accrue hourly software fees. Underlying AWS storage or other AWS resources may still incur separate AWS charges even when the instance is stopped.
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. To use more compute, you launch or resize to a larger type, such as moving from m5.large to m5.4xlarge. Billing then follows the new type's hourly rate for the hours it runs. This change is manual, not automatic.
