Turns Complex Data Into Actionable Insights for Business Users

    Reviewed on Sep 10, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Tableau is how it turns complex data into something business users can actually understand and act on. From my Salesforce architecture perspective, I’ve always found the biggest challenge isn’t just collecting data—it’s helping stakeholders quickly see what the data is telling them.

I particularly like the balance between powerful analytics and usability. It allows me to go beyond static reporting and explore trends, identify patterns, drill into the underlying data, and present insights in a way that makes sense to both technical and business audiences.

What makes Tableau especially interesting to me now is its role alongside the broader Salesforce ecosystem. Bringing together CRM, Data 360, and analytics creates the possibility of moving from simply answering “What happened?” to understanding “Why did it happen, what is likely to happen next, and what should we do about it?”

That progression from data → insight → decision is what I like most about Tableau.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike most about Tableau is that the flexibility that makes it powerful can also make it difficult to govern at scale. In larger enterprise environments, I’ve seen dashboards and workbooks evolve organically, leading to duplicated metrics, inconsistent definitions, and multiple versions of what should be the same KPI.

From my perspective as an architect, the challenge is often less about building a dashboard and more about ensuring the underlying data model, calculations, ownership, and definitions are consistent and trusted. Tableau can visualize poor or inconsistent data very effectively, which can sometimes give users a false sense of confidence in the insights.

I’d also like a simpler experience around enterprise-wide semantic governance, lineage, performance troubleshooting, and managing complex data sources. The visualization capabilities are excellent, but keeping a large Tableau environment clean, performant, and aligned with business definitions can require significant discipline and administration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me, Tableau solves the problem of turning large and fragmented datasets into insights that business and technical teams can actually use to make decisions. In the Salesforce environments I work with, data often comes from multiple clouds, Salesforce orgs, and external systems, so simply having the data available isn’t enough.

Tableau helps me connect the dots and make patterns, trends, and exceptions visible without requiring every stakeholder to understand the underlying data architecture. I find that particularly valuable when working with executives and business teams, because a well-designed visualization can communicate the story much faster than spreadsheets or raw reports.

The biggest benefit for me is better decision-making and faster conversations. Instead of spending meetings debating what the numbers mean, teams can start with a shared view of the data and focus on why something is happening and what we should do next.

From an architecture perspective, Tableau also helps me demonstrate the value of the broader Salesforce data ecosystem turning integrated data into something tangible and actionable for the business.

Tableau Next makes it easier to see Salesforce data in daily work

    Reviewed on Sep 10, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most now is Tableau Next. Classic dashboards are still useful, but Tableau Next is better for our daily work because it sits closer to Salesforce and Data 360. We can look at numbers in the same place where we already work, instead of opening a separate report tool every time. Sharing a view with sales or marketing is also easier. After we started using Tableau Next, people asked fewer times “where is the latest number?” That is the most helpful change for our team.
What do you dislike about the product?
To be honest, the first setup is not light, especially for Tableau Next. We need Data 360 and some extra settings before it becomes useful. Product names are also a bit confusing for new members. Tableau, Tableau Next, Data 360… it takes time to explain what we should use for each purpose. Classic Tableau is familiar, but Next still needs learning. These are not big problems after the basic view is ready, but onboarding takes more effort than we first expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problem was that numbers lived in different places. Salesforce had one view, spreadsheets had another, and people were not sure which number was the latest. We spent extra time checking reports before a meeting, and each team sometimes used a different figure. Tableau, especially Tableau Next, helps us look at the same data closer to daily work. Because it connects with Salesforce and Data 360, we can check sales or customer numbers without opening many files. For our team, this reduced repeated confirmation and made discussions shorter. Setup still takes time, but after the basic view started working, we spend less time asking “which report is correct?”
