You pay by the hour for this .NET 8 on Windows Server 2019 machine image, with vendor support included. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type you choose to run. Your hourly rate depends on the instance you select, from small general-purpose types to large compute, memory, storage, and accelerated options. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or GPU capacity carry higher hourly rates. You scale cost by picking the instance that fits your workload, and you pay only for the hours you run.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover for this listing?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select, priced per hour. The rate bundles the software image (.NET 8 on Windows Server 2019) plus vendor support. You choose the instance type, and the hour count reflects how long that instance runs.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when the instance is stopped?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A stopped instance does not accrue the software charge. Underlying AWS charges, such as storage for the attached volume, may still apply while the instance is stopped, since those are billed separately by AWS.
What drives my total cost across all these instance options?
You pick one instance type at a time; its hourly rate drives your software cost. Rates rise with instance size and capacity, so a larger compute, memory, storage, or GPU instance costs more per hour. Total cost equals your chosen hourly rate multiplied by hours run.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources.
