Charges apply for each hour the software runs, on top of standard AWS infrastructure fees. No upfront commitment or fixed term applies to this usage-based model.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Charges apply for each hour the software runs on an active instance. Fully stopped or powered-off instances do not accrue software charges. Underlying AWS storage fees may still apply while an instance is stopped, but the software license meters only running hours.
The rate covers a maintained, PCI-focused hardened operating-system image, patched monthly with published evidence artifacts. Your team still owns application security, cloud architecture, identity, networking, logging, evidence retention, and assessor validation. The image addresses the OS layer only, not the broader workload.
The instance type you launch drives cost. Each dimension maps to one EC2 size, so compute, memory, and specialized hardware set the hourly rate. Running more instances or larger sizes raises the bill. The software charge applies per instance-hour, separate from AWS infrastructure fees.
