Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you choose to run BookStack. The 20 dimensions are not feature tiers. Each one maps to a specific instance type, so your rate scales with the compute you select. Two families are offered: the t-series (t2, t3, t3a) for general-purpose workloads and the m-series (m3, m4) for balanced compute and memory. Within each family, larger sizes like xlarge, 2xlarge, and 16xlarge carry higher hourly rates. Pick the size that matches your expected traffic and workload. Hourly billing lets you scale up or down as needs change.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You pay for BookStack software running on a specific EC2 instance size. The rate covers the vendor's packaged, secured deployment plus support. Underlying AWS compute and storage costs are billed separately by AWS. Larger instance types carry higher hourly software rates because they provide more compute and memory.
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. Fully stopped instances do not accrue software fees. You may still pay AWS for attached storage on a stopped instance, but the metered software rate counts running hours only.
The t-series (t2, t3, t3a) suits general-purpose or variable workloads. The m-series (m3, m4) balances compute and memory for steadier demand. Within each family, larger sizes handle more concurrent traffic. Match the instance to your expected BookStack usage, since the size sets your hourly rate.

Usage instructions
Our basic recomendation is to use provided security rules at least for deployment phase until successful app access. After deployment, you can access your application at http://<public IP>. (It might take up to 15 minutes to be available post-deployment). The machine is accessible via SSH, default username: ubuntu. Where relevant, app login credentials are available on message of the day (and /etc/motd).
