What does one billed hour cover for each instance type like m4.large or t3.xlarge?
One billed hour covers one running AWS EC2 instance of that type. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size with fixed compute and memory. You pay per instance-hour while the instance runs. Larger types in the m4 and t3 families carry more resources, so their hourly rate is higher.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume may still apply while stopped, but those are separate from this software metering. You pay only for the hours each instance is running.
How do I change cost if my workload grows or shrinks?
You switch to a different instance type dimension. Moving to a larger type raises the hourly rate; moving to a smaller one lowers it. There is no upfront commitment, so you can change sizes as your data integration workload changes. You are charged the rate of whichever instance type runs during those hours.

After deployment, you can access your application at http://<public IP>. (It might take up to 15 minutes to be available post-deployment). The machine is accessible via SSH, default username: ubuntu. Where relevant, app login credentials are available on message of the day (and /etc/motd).

We had aimed to test this product out for our use case and somehow ended up paying for an annual license through AWS marketplace. Once we realized it we contacted the Hossted team and requested a refund. After a short back and forth with AWS, the Hossted team was able to process our refund request with AWS and refund our payment. Unfortunately, this product didn't meet our needs, but the customer service was excellent.
