You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance type you run this preconfigured Keycloak with PostgreSQL image on. All dimensions bill the same way, so pricing scales with the instance you choose, not with users or features. Options span burstable families (t2, t3, t3a) sized from nano to 2xlarge, and general-purpose families (m4, m5, m5a, m5ad, m5d, m5dn, m5n, m5zn, m6a, m6i, m6id, m6idn, m6in, m7a, m7i, m7i-flex) up to metal sizes. Larger instances carry more CPU and memory, so their hourly rate is higher. You stop billing when you stop the instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get when I launch one of these hourly instances?
You get a preconfigured machine image with Keycloak and a PostgreSQL database installed on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. Keycloak handles identity and access management for your applications and services. The hourly rate covers this software running on the EC2 instance size you select.
Am I charged when I stop or pause the instance?
Software charges meter running time only. When you stop the instance, hourly billing for the software stops too. A stopped instance may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for its attached disks, but those are separate from the per-hour software rate you see here.
Does my hourly rate change based on users, applications, or data stored?
No. Cost depends only on the EC2 instance type you run, not on how many users authenticate or how much data Keycloak and PostgreSQL hold. Each instance size has one hourly rate. Larger instances with more CPU and memory carry higher rates.
