One unit is one running EC2 instance of the size you pick, billed per hour. The instance code, such as c7g.large or m6g.metal, sets the CPU and memory you receive. You pay for each instance you launch, counted separately, for every hour it runs.
The hourly software fee meters running time only. Stopped instances do not accrue the software charge. You may still owe underlying AWS fees, such as storage for attached volumes, but the Rocky Linux 9 license bills only while the instance runs.

To connect to your instance, you will need to use SSH over port 22. The default username for connecting is rocky.
