    Overview

    Node.js 20 reached upstream End-of-Life on March 24, 2026 and is no longer an active LTS release line. It no longer receives upstream Node.js security or maintenance updates. This image should be used only where Node.js 20 compatibility is required, and customers should plan migration to a supported Node.js release. Operating-system updates do not upgrade the Node.js major version or restore upstream Node.js support.

    What Hanwei Adds to the Upstream Software

    • Node.js and operating-system integration: Node.js 20 is installed and prepared on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 as an EC2 AMI. The exact Node.js patch version, package source, installation path, and included package set must match the final published image.
    • Security-hardening baseline: The versioned Enterprise Linux 9 profile configures SELinux enforcement, key-only SSH access, restricted SSH settings, audit logging, and kernel security controls. The applicable controls and exceptions are verified against the final AMI for each release.
    • Optimized performance configuration: The standardized profile sets the file-descriptor limit to 65,536, the memory-map ceiling to 262,144, the device receive backlog to 16,384, the TCP SYN backlog to 8,192, socket buffer maxima to 16 MB, TCP idle congestion-window behavior, and a 500 MB system-journal cap.
    • Operating-system preparation: Hanwei applies the versioned baseline during image construction and prepares the resulting image for EC2 launch. Package versions reflect the configured repositories and build-time state; customers remain responsible for updates after launch.
    • Supplementary support: Hanwei provides support with a 24-hour response target. This support supplements the integrated and configured software image and is not the sole basis for the Marketplace charges.

    Access and Security Posture

    • SELinux is configured in enforcing mode by the Hanwei Enterprise Linux 9 baseline.
    • SSH uses key-based authentication; password authentication and direct root login are disabled by the baseline.
    • The baseline configures restricted SSH algorithms, audit logging, and kernel security controls.
    • The final security posture depends on the exact profile version and exceptions recorded for the published AMI.
    • Customers are responsible for configuring security groups, IAM roles, application authentication, authorization, TLS, secrets, environment variables, network listeners, services, and application-level security.

    Optimized Performance Configuration Scope

    • Resource, memory-map, queue, socket-buffer, TCP idle, and journal limits are configured by the standardized Enterprise Linux 9 profile.
    • These settings modify operating-system ceilings and defaults. Workload-specific throughput, latency, concurrency, memory use, and scaling depend on the selected EC2 instance and application.
    • Customers must validate Node.js process behavior, native modules, network workload, capacity, and performance for their deployment.
