You pay by the hour based on the AWS EC2 instance type you run Apache Flink on. The seven dimensions map to different instance sizes and families, so you choose the compute profile that fits your workload. Options include general-purpose instances (t3.medium, t3a.medium, t3.large, m4.large, m5.large), a compute-optimized instance (c5.large), and a memory-optimized instance (r5.large). Larger or more powerful instances carry higher hourly rates. Billing scales with the number of hours each instance runs, and you can select the family that matches your CPU or memory needs.

Each dimension maps to one AWS EC2 instance type running Apache Flink. You pay the software charge per hour that instance runs. The rate reflects the CPU and memory profile of that instance size and family, so you pick the compute spec that fits your workload.
The software charge meters running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing the hourly software fee. Underlying AWS storage and other AWS resource fees may still apply while the instance is stopped, but those are separate from this hourly software charge.

After deployment, you can access your application at http://<public IP>. (It might take up to 15 minutes to be available post-deployment). The machine is accessible via SSH, default username: ubuntu. Where relevant, app login credentials are available on message of the day (and /etc/motd).
