You pay by the hour for Titan SFTP Server for Linux, billed per running instance. Pricing is not a set of feature tiers. Instead, you pick from a wide range of AWS EC2 instance types, and each one carries its own hourly software rate. The rate scales with the size and class of the instance you choose, from small general-purpose types up to large compute-, memory-, and storage-optimized machines. You only pay for the hours you run, so cost tracks your actual usage and the capacity your workload needs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover, and what falls outside the software charge?
The hourly rate covers the Titan SFTP Server software license on the EC2 instance type you pick. Underlying AWS compute, storage, and network costs are billed separately by AWS. Optional add-on modules like advanced authentication or high availability are not part of this hourly rate.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running instance-hours. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still incur AWS storage fees for the attached volume while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How is billing affected if I move to a larger EC2 instance type?
Each instance type carries its own hourly software rate. Switching to a larger compute-, memory-, or storage-optimized type changes your hourly rate to match that type. You pay the new rate for hours run on the new instance. No upfront commitment ties you to one type.

Usage Instructions
Create an Instance of our AMI through the Amazon EC2 Console. Port 22 access will be required for initial configuration of the application and port 41443 will be used to configure the Titan application through a web browser.
Once the Instance has been created and is running, Connect to the instance over SSH following the SSH connectivity instructions in the EC2 Console.
Once you have securely connected to the instance over SSH, the initial Titan administrator account needs to be configured. To configure the Titan administrator account, use the following command and supply your new administrator credentials. It's imporant to use a complex password.
Once the Titan administrative credentials have been established, you can now connect to the Titan web-based admin console through your web-browser by pointing it to https://<ipaddress>:41443.
Note that this is a secure connection. However, since Titan is using a temporary certificate, you will see a security warning in the browser. Proceed past the security warning and log in to the Titan Admin console. At this point you will be able to configure the Titan application including adding your own TLS certificate.

What do you like best about the product?
Titan SFTP Server is a fantastic choice for businesses looking for secure and reliable file transfer options. It supports various protocols like SFTP, FTPS, and HTTP/S, which gives you the flexibility you need. Plus, with its strong security features and HIPAA compliance, it’s perfect for handling sensitive data. The server also offers flexible deployment options and handy automation tools, making file management a breeze for any organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be quite complex for smaller organizations that only need basic file transfer capabilities, and the setup process often requires more technical expertise than simpler FTP solutions, which might be overwhelming for some users. Additionally, as an enterprise-grade solution, it tends to come with a higher price tag and may present compatibility issues with software from different vendors, alongside the necessity for careful management of its robust security features.

What do you like best about the product?
One of the most impressive features is its reliability and security. The encryption protocols ensure that data is transferred securely, which is essential when handling sensitive information. I also appreciate the easy-to-use interface, making it simple to set up users and permissions. It’s highly customizable, allowing for seamless integration into our existing systems, and the ability to automate processes via scripting is a massive time-saver. The server also provides detailed logs, helping with compliance and troubleshooting.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial configuration can be a bit complex, especially for users who are not familiar with network setups or security protocols. While the documentation is comprehensive, some specific use cases could benefit from clearer examples. Occasionally, troubleshooting issues can take longer than expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The SFTP server is addressing the critical need for secure and reliable file transfers in our business. We handle sensitive client data that requires strict compliance with security standards like GDPR and HIPAA, and the encryption protocols offered by the server help us meet these requirements effortlessly. By automating file transfers, we’ve significantly reduced manual intervention, cutting down on errors and saving time. Additionally, the server's user management capabilities allow us to control access with precision, ensuring only authorized personnel have access to certain files, which enhances data integrity and accountability within our workflows. What do you like best about the product?
Reliability. For well over a decade, I have never seen an issue with Titan SFTP. I expect more of the same with NextGen. Backups are critical and there is no doubt Titan SFTP will collect and store them. As an admin, this is one area where there just is no risk or concern, it just works.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only issues I can state is the risk to Titan SFTP and a shift to NextGen, which caused a new license type to be purchased.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cisco only certifies three SFTP clients, Titan is one of them and it always works.
