Oracle Database 21c Enterprise Edition - Production Ready on AWS
Get Oracle Database 21c Enterprise Edition running on AWS in minutes instead of spending hours on manual installation, hardening, and agent configuration. This pre-built AMI from cloudimg eliminates the complexity of deploying Oracle's converged database engine so your team can focus on application delivery rather than infrastructure setup.
Why Choose This AMI Over Self-Installation
Building an Oracle 21c environment from scratch typically requires installing the OS, applying security patches, configuring networking, installing Oracle binaries, and setting up monitoring agents. This AMI delivers all of that pre-configured:
Pre-installed Oracle 21c Enterprise with native JSON storage, blockchain tables, and in-database AutoML ready to use
Security-hardened OS with latest patches applied and automatic EBS optimisation enabled
Monitoring agents pre-configured including AWS CLI v2, CloudWatch Agent, and SSM Agent for immediate observability
Enhanced networking enabled with ENA Express supporting single TCP flows up to 25Gbps for RMAN and Data Pump operations
EBS encryption support for data-at-rest protection using AWS KMS
Supported Operating Systems
Choose from Oracle Linux, AlmaLinux, or Rocky Linux at launch - giving you flexibility for licensing requirements, kernel compatibility, and organizational compliance standards.
Use Case Scenarios
Financial Services - Transaction Processing: Run mission-critical billing and ERP workloads requiring high availability and tamper-evident audit trails using Oracle's blockchain tables. Ideal for organizations processing high-volume transactional data that requires both SQL performance and immutable record-keeping.
Application Modernization - JSON Microservices: Build modern microservices that store and query JSON documents natively within Oracle 21c while retaining full SQL access. Eliminates the need for a separate document database, reducing architectural complexity.
Data Analytics and AutoML: Leverage Oracle's in-database machine learning capabilities to run predictive models directly where your data resides, avoiding data movement overhead for analytics workloads.
Licensing - Bring Your Own License
Use your existing Oracle Database Enterprise Edition entitlements (BYOL). This AMI does not include Oracle software licenses - you must hold valid Oracle licensing before deployment.
Security Hardening
The AMI ships with a hardened baseline including latest OS security patches, automatic EBS optimisation, and pre-configured monitoring for security observability through CloudWatch and SSM. EBS volumes support encryption at rest via AWS KMS for data protection.
Architecture and AWS Integration
The AMI integrates with core AWS services out of the box:
Amazon CloudWatch for database and OS metric collection and alerting
AWS Systems Manager for patch management, automation, and secure remote access
ENA Express for high-throughput network performance on supported instance types
Amazon EBS with optimised I/O configuration for database workloads

Support and Services
cloudimg provides SLA-backed 24x7x365 ticketing with an average one-hour response time, plus performance tuning and architecture guidance for Oracle on AWS.

Highlights
24x7 Expert Support with Average One-Hour Response - When your production Oracle database encounters issues at 2 AM, cloudimg engineers respond within one hour on average via SLA-backed ticketing. This means faster incident resolution compared to managing Oracle infrastructure with internal teams alone, reducing downtime risk for mission-critical ERP, billing, and analytics workloads running on AWS.
Pre-Hardened and Pre-Configured AMI Saves Hours of Setup - Skip the manual process of installing Oracle binaries, applying security patches, configuring CloudWatch Agent, SSM Agent, and AWS CLI v2, and optimising EBS. This AMI delivers a production-ready Oracle 21c Enterprise environment in minutes, letting your DBAs focus on application tuning rather than infrastructure provisioning and hardening.
Bring Your Own License with OS Flexibility - Use your existing Oracle Database Enterprise Edition entitlements on your choice of Oracle Linux, AlmaLinux, or Rocky Linux. OS flexibility means you can match your organization's compliance requirements, kernel compatibility needs, or licensing preferences without being locked into a single distribution.

Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the running software, billed per EC2 instance type you choose. Each dimension maps to one specific instance size, so your rate scales with the compute you select. Smaller shared-core instances like t3.small carry lower hourly rates, while large memory, compute, storage, and accelerated instances such as x2iedn.metal or p5.48xlarge carry higher rates. You pick the instance that fits your database workload, and pricing follows that choice. There are no tiers or upfront commitments; you only pay for the hours you run.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate for each instance type actually cover?
The rate covers the running software licence and the packaged Oracle Database 21c Enterprise Edition image on that EC2 instance type. It includes the preconfigured sample database, listener, helper scripts, monitoring agents, and 24/7 support. AWS charges for compute, storage, and data transfer are separate and billed by AWS.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my EC2 instance is stopped?
The software charge meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software rate. You may still pay AWS for attached storage, such as the root volume and the dedicated /u01 Oracle volume, while the instance is stopped.
What instance size should I pick, and can I change it later?
The guide recommends m5.large or larger, with minimums of 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, and 20 GB disk. You choose one instance type at launch, and its hourly rate applies. To move to a different size later, you relaunch on that instance type and its rate applies.
