Manage and secure containerized Windows applications with Docker Enterprise for Windows Server and operate them in parallel with Linux-based containers on the Docker Enterprise container platform.
Docker Engine - Enterprise is available at no additional cost to all Windows Server 2019 customers.
Docker works the same way on Windows as it does on Linux: leverage the same Docker CLI, API, image format, and Docker registry services for both Windows and Linux images in the same cluster.
Features
Lightweight containers spin up fast and optimally use system resources
Eliminate conflicts of different versions of IIS/.NET to coexist on a single system with container isolation
Take advantage of new Docker Certified Container base images like Windows Server Core and Nano Server
Consistent user experience: use the same commands as Docker for Linux environments
Manage and secure containerized Windows applications in the same cluster as Linux applications
Subscription tiers give Windows applications the same advanced container management features as Linux-based applications including image scanning, overlay networking, and Secrets management
Added isolation properties with Hyper-V containers selected at runtime
Run both Windows and Linux containers

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for this software, billed per running EC2 instance. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, from small burstable sizes to large compute, memory, storage, and GPU-optimized instances, including bare metal options. Your cost scales with the instance type you choose, so pricing follows the compute, memory, and storage capacity of that instance. You can run the software on Windows Server 2019 to build and run containers. Billing continues for each hour an instance runs, and you can stop charges by stopping the instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit map to, and how is it counted?
Each dimension maps to one specific EC2 instance type, billed per hour that instance runs. One unit equals one running instance of that type. If you run three instances of the same type, you pay three times the hourly rate for that dimension. Charges accrue by the hour.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or powered off?
The software charge meters running time only. When you stop an instance, hourly software charges stop. Underlying AWS storage fees for the stopped instance may still apply through your AWS account, but the software licence bills only the hours an instance actually runs.
Which instance dimension drives my cost, and can I run Linux containers?
Your cost is driven by the instance type you pick; larger compute, memory, storage, or GPU instances carry higher hourly rates. The software runs Windows containers by default. To run Linux containers you must enable Hyper-V isolation on a supported instance family, which does not change how billing works.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
