NICE DCV Ubuntu 22 Desktop supports high-end remote desktop access with MESA 3D support. Includes support for remote USB devices and file transfer.
On AWS, NICE DCV provides the streaming protocol e.g. used by Amazon Appstream 2.0, Nimble Studio and AWS RoboMaker.

What does the hourly rate cover, and what do I pay separately to AWS?
The hourly rate covers the software licence for the remote desktop running on your chosen instance type. You pay the underlying Amazon EC2 compute, storage, and data transfer charges separately to AWS. The software charge meters running time on the instance you launch.
Am I charged the hourly software fee when my instance is stopped?
The software fee meters running instance-hours. When you stop the instance, the software charge stops accruing. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate from the per-hour software licence you see in the pricing table.
Why do prices differ so much across the listed instance types?
Each dimension maps to one Amazon EC2 instance type. Larger instances carry more vCPUs and memory, so their hourly rate is higher. Compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and bare-metal families each reflect different hardware. You select the instance that matches your workload, and the rate follows that choice.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. Make sure the instance security groups allow inbound traffic to TCP and UDP port 8443 and 22.

With DCV 2021 and later QUIC/UDP will be used automatically together with the DCV client. In the DCV client connection settings you can select TCP as well.
