Each hourly unit covers one running EC2 instance of the type you select. The charge bundles the software with that instance size. You deploy through a single EC2 virtual machine and pay per hour it runs. AWS compute and storage fees apply separately based on the instance and resources used.
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. Stopping the instance stops hourly software charges, though AWS storage fees for attached volumes may continue. To change capacity, you switch to a different instance type. Your hourly rate then follows the new instance size you select.
You pick from general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and GPU instance families. General-purpose types suit standard storefronts. Memory-optimized types help larger catalogs or heavy traffic. Compute-optimized types favor processing-heavy tasks. Match the family and size to your traffic and data, then run a single EC2 instance of that type.
