API-First, Flexible Content Modelling with Outstanding Professional Services

    Reviewed on May 20, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Contentful is the combination of structured content modelling, API-first delivery, and architectural flexibility. It works particularly well in environments where content needs to be reused consistently across multiple customer-facing channels rather than being tied to a single page or presentation layer.

From a technical perspective, the platform fits naturally into a composable architecture alongside other specialist systems, which gives teams a high degree of flexibility around how content is delivered and consumed across different digital touchpoints.

I’ve also been consistently impressed by the quality of Contentful’s Professional Services and customer success teams. The engagement has felt genuinely collaborative and strategically supportive, with a strong focus on best practices, scalability, and long-term success rather than purely transactional account management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Contentful is at its strongest when organisations fully embrace structured content and composable architecture principles. Teams expecting a more traditional page-builder CMS experience may face a learning curve around content modelling, governance, and implementation patterns.

Because of the platform’s flexibility, there is also a level of architectural and operational maturity required to get the best results. Without clear standards and implementation discipline, different teams can approach modelling and asset management inconsistently.

I also think some areas of optimisation and best practice guidance, particularly around asset usage and media delivery at scale, become increasingly important as implementations grow. That said, the Contentful team has been proactive and collaborative in helping address those areas.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Contentful is helping solve a number of challenges around structured content management, omnichannel delivery, and operational agility.

One of the biggest benefits has been the ability to manage reusable content centrally and distribute it consistently across multiple customer-facing digital touchpoints. That significantly reduces duplication, improves consistency, and enables faster iteration when campaigns or experience changes are needed.

The platform has also helped create a cleaner separation between operational systems and customer-facing experience management. That architectural separation makes it easier to scale digital experiences without tightly coupling frontend experiences to backend operational platforms.

From an operational perspective, Contentful has improved flexibility for both engineering and content teams by enabling structured, API-driven content delivery rather than relying on more traditional page-centric approaches. It has also supported faster experimentation and a more scalable foundation for future digital channels.

More broadly, the platform aligns well with modern composable architecture principles, which has made it easier to integrate with surrounding systems and evolve the wider digital ecosystem over time.

    Effortless CMS with Flexible Customization

    Reviewed on May 15, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like Contentful's flexibility, especially being able to create custom content types. This allows us to tailor our content and its structure to meet our specific needs. I find the content easy to author, and items are easily reusable. Changes to both content and configuration are immediately available to our customers. The initial setup was very easy, which was a big plus.
What do you dislike about the product?
ambiguity around the best practices for migrating content from sandbox environments to production.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I like that Contentful makes content easy to author and reuse, and changes are immediately available to customers. Creating custom content types allows us to tailor content to our specific needs.

Contentful’s Flexibility Makes It Easy to Build Custom Authoring Features

    Reviewed on May 13, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Contentful is how flexible it is. You can build within the system to provide additional features for authors or developers that may not be available out of the box.
What do you dislike about the product?
I’d like to see more in-depth functionality for authoring conditional logic and required fields.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Contentful is our primary tool for content authoring and the main driver of our content workflow.

User-Friendly, MACH-Aligned CMS That Works Great for Marketers and Developers

    Reviewed on May 13, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
First and foremost, Contentful provides a very user-friendly interface for day-to-day users. It’s intuitive, easy to navigate, and clean, which is especially important for our brand and marketing teams. From a technical perspective, its best-in-class MACH principles align directly with our strategy from a product and product delivery standpoint. It’s also developer-friendly and maintains strong relationships with other products and services in the marketplace.
What do you dislike about the product?
Content at scale can quickly become chaotic without clear process and governance. In Contentful, content fragments need to be thoughtfully architected, with consistent naming conventions, shared definitions, appropriate access controls, and well-defined workflows. If this foundation isn’t established upfront, Contentful can become increasingly difficult to manage as you scale.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Contentful provides a single source of truth for content across our customer experiences and our brands online. It powers content within our headless architecture, centralizing how we manage content so that one consistent source of truth can be used everywhere. It has also become pivotal to our MACH strategy.
