You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run this web server on. Each dimension maps to a specific instance type, spanning general-purpose and burstable families in sizes from nano through 4xlarge. Larger instances offer more compute and memory, so their hourly rate is higher. There are no upfront commitments or fixed terms. You choose the instance that fits your workload, and billing accrues only while the instance runs. Scaling up or down means switching to a different instance size, which changes your hourly rate accordingly.

What does the hourly software charge cover for this web server?
The hourly rate covers the WebtoB web server license running on your chosen EC2 instance. It handles HTTP requests, serves web pages, and processes web transactions. AWS charges the underlying EC2 compute, storage, and network separately. The software meter runs only while your instance is active.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge accrues only while the instance runs. A stopped instance stops the software meter. You may still pay AWS storage fees for attached volumes while stopped, but the WebtoB license bills running time only.
How do I scale to handle more web traffic, and how does that affect cost?
You scale by switching to a different instance size, moving from burstable to general-purpose families or from smaller to larger sizes. Each size carries its own hourly rate, so your bill changes with the instance you run. WebtoB also supports clustering and adding nodes at runtime.
