Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.

See AWS Free Tier for more details. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you choose to run Discourse through this platform. Pricing is usage-based, so charges accrue only while an instance runs. The many dimensions are simply different EC2 instance types, ranging from small general-purpose sizes to large compute-, memory-, storage-, and GPU-focused options. Larger or more specialized instances carry higher hourly rates. You match the instance type to the memory, CPU, or storage your community forum needs. There is no upfront commitment, and you can stop charges by stopping the instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What am I actually paying for with these hourly EC2 instance dimensions?
Each dimension is a specific EC2 instance size that runs the Websoft9 platform hosting your Discourse forum. You pay for one running instance per hour. The rate reflects the CPU, memory, storage, or GPU that instance type provides. Charges stop when you stop the instance.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. Stopping the instance halts hourly software charges. Underlying AWS storage tied to a stopped instance may still incur AWS fees, but the platform meters running time only. There is no upfront commitment.
How do I pick the right instance type for my Discourse community?
Match the instance to the memory, CPU, and storage your forum traffic needs. General-purpose sizes suit smaller communities. Memory-, compute-, or storage-focused types serve heavier loads. Discourse requires a domain name and open network ports; it will not run from a bare IP address.
