Per-Instance Credential Generation
On first boot, the image sets a unique MariaDB root password, creates a dedicated database user, and writes everything to /opt/lamp/generated-credentials.txt. No credentials are shared across instances or stored in the image.
Amazon CloudWatch Integration
CloudWatch Agent is pre-configured to ship Apache access/error logs, MySQL error logs, syslog, and auth.log to CloudWatch Logs (per-instance streams, 30-day retention). CPU, memory, disk, TCP connection-state, and process metrics are published under the SolveDevOps/LAMP namespace, tagged with instance ID, instance type, and Auto Scaling group.
AWS Systems Manager Integration
SSM Agent installed and enabled for Session Manager shell access without opening SSH, plus Patch Manager and Run Command support.

You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you launch. The software cost is the same delivery, but your rate changes with the compute size you pick. Options span burstable instances like t2 and t3, general-purpose m3, m4, and m5, compute-optimized c5, memory-optimized r4 and r5, and storage-optimized d2 and d3. Larger instance sizes carry higher hourly rates. Metal options run on dedicated hardware. You add this software charge on top of standard AWS infrastructure fees. Billing stops when you stop the instance, so you pay only for hours used.

What does one hourly billing unit cover for this LAMP stack image?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance-hour. You pay the software rate for every hour the instance runs. The rate matches the instance type you launch, such as t3.micro or r5.large. The image bundles Linux, Apache, MariaDB, PHP, and phpMyAdmin on that instance.
Am I charged the software fee when my instance is stopped?
The software fee meters running hours only. When you stop the instance, the hourly software charge stops. Standard AWS storage fees for the attached volume may still apply while the instance is stopped. You resume software charges when you start the instance again.
Which factor drives my total cost the most across instance types?
The instance type you choose drives the software rate. Larger sizes within a family carry higher hourly rates. Memory-optimized and storage-optimized families price differently than burstable ones. Your total bill combines this software rate with the separate AWS infrastructure charge for the same instance-hours.
