Getting Started
- Launch the AMI from AWS Marketplace on a Windows-compatible EC2 instance
- Configure your Security Group to allow RDP access on port 3389 from your IP range
- Connect via Remote Desktop using the credentials from your EC2 instance
- Open SQL Developer from the desktop - it is pre-installed and configured
- Create a new database connection to your Oracle Database endpoint
- Begin developing, administering, or migrating your databases

- Recommended instance types: t3.medium or larger (minimum 4 GB RAM)
- Operating system: Windows Server 2019 (included)
- Network: Connectivity to your Oracle Database endpoint (RDS, EC2, on-premises, or Oracle Cloud)
- Oracle Database: Not included - you must have an existing Oracle Database instance (11gR2, 19c, 21c, or 23ai)
- Oracle licensing: Buyer is responsible for any Oracle Database licenses required for their environment
- Storage: Minimum 30 GB EBS volume recommended

Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you choose to run this preconfigured Windows Server image with Oracle SQL Developer. Pricing is not tiered by feature. Instead, each dimension maps to one AWS instance type, and the hourly rate scales with the compute, memory, and hardware of that instance. Smaller instances like t3.medium suit the recommended minimum setup, while larger memory, compute, GPU, and bare-metal instances cost more per hour. You select the instance that fits your workload, and billing runs only while the instance is active.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate covers the software image with Oracle SQL Developer, Java Runtime, and Windows Server preinstalled, plus 24/7 cloudimg support. You also pay standard AWS charges for the EC2 instance and storage. A 30 GB gp3 disk minimum is recommended, and that storage bills separately from the software.
Software charges meter running instance-hours only. When you stop the instance, hourly software billing pauses. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached disk may still apply while the instance is stopped. Billing resumes when you start the instance again.
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type, so you choose based on workload needs. The guide recommends t3.medium (2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM) or larger. The minimum is 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, and 30 GB disk. Larger memory, compute, GPU, or bare-metal types cost more per hour.
