Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the running EC2 instance, with no upfront commitment. The software price stays the same across all instance types; what changes is the instance size you pick. Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type, from small burstable options like t3.small up to large memory-, compute-, storage-, and accelerator-optimized machines. Bigger instances give more vCPU and memory, so hourly cost scales with the hardware you select. Choose the instance that fits your workload; the vendor recommends t3.small or larger. Billing stops when you stop the instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You get an Oracle Database Client 19c image, not a full database. It includes SQL*Plus, Oracle Net, and client utilities to connect to remote Oracle databases. The AMI also bundles AWS CLI v2, the Systems Manager Agent, the CloudWatch Agent, and 24/7 vendor support with a 24-hour response SLA.
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs and bill per hour. When you stop the instance, the hourly software charge stops. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached disk may still apply while the instance is stopped, since that storage stays allocated.
The vendor recommends t3.small, which has 2 vCPU and 2 GB RAM, or larger. Minimum requirements are 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, and 20 GB disk. The Oracle Client is a set of tools, not a running service, so it needs modest resources compared with a database server.
