Each name reflects a family and size, from small burstable instances like t3.nano up to compute, memory, and GPU-optimized instances such as c6a.16xlarge, r6a.16xlarge, and p3.16xlarge. Larger instances carry more CPU, memory, or GPU resources, so your hourly rate scales with the instance you choose. You add AWS infrastructure charges separately. Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select. You are charged for each hour that instance runs, per instance. Running two instances of the same type doubles the software charge. The rate reflects the instance family and size you pick.
The software fee meters running instance-hours. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage on a stopped instance. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
Each dimension maps to a distinct EC2 instance type, not a feature tier. GPU families like p3 and g3 carry graphics processors alongside CPU and memory. Larger CPU or memory families like c6a and r6a add more of those resources. The hourly rate scales with the instance's resources.

Allow inbound SSH access in your security group (TCP port 22) To connect to your instance using the Amazon EC2 console: Open the Amazon EC2 console at https://console.aws.amazon.com/ec2/ .
In the navigation pane, choose Instances. Select the instance and choose Connect. Choose the EC2 Instance Connect tab. For Connection type, choose Connect using EC2 Instance Connect. Access the ec2 with the default username: "ubuntu"
