You pay by the hour for this Ubuntu 22.04 image, based on the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, or GPU resources you select. General-purpose (t2, t3, m4, m5a), compute-optimized (c5, c5a), memory-optimized (r5a), and GPU instances (g3, p2, p3) are all available. Smaller instances like t3.nano cost less per hour; larger instances like p3.16xlarge cost more. You choose the size that fits your workload and pay only for hours used.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. Stopped instances do not accrue the software fee. You may still pay AWS for attached storage, such as EBS volumes, while the instance sits stopped. Software metering counts running hours only.
You get the same Ubuntu 22.04 image pre-configured with container tools on every dimension. The instance type only changes the underlying compute, memory, or GPU resources. Larger sizes give more capacity per hour. The software configuration stays identical across all sizes you select.
Two charges appear on the same invoice. You pay the vendor's hourly software fee for the running instance, plus the standard AWS charge for the underlying EC2 instance. Both meter by the hour and add together. Choosing a larger instance raises both charges.

Usage instructions
Allow inbound SSH access in your security group (TCP port 22) To connect to your instance using the Amazon EC2 console: Open the Amazon EC2 console at https://console.aws.amazon.com/ec2/ .
In the navigation pane, choose Instances. Select the instance and choose Connect. Choose the EC2 Instance Connect tab. For Connection type, choose Connect using EC2 Instance Connect. Access the ec2 with the default username: "ubuntu"
