You pay by the hour for a preconfigured Wildfly application server image running on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Pricing follows the EC2 instance type you choose, so your hourly rate scales with the compute size you select. Options range from small burstable T2, T3, and T3a instances to large general-purpose M-family instances, including memory- and network-optimized variants and bare metal configurations. Larger instances with more vCPUs and memory cost more per hour. You run only what you need and add AWS infrastructure charges separately. No upfront commitment applies under this usage-based model.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get when I select an instance type like m5.large or t3.medium?
You get one EC2 virtual machine running the preconfigured Wildfly application server on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. The instance name defines the vCPU count, memory, and hardware family. You are billed per running hour for that single machine at the rate tied to your chosen size.
Am I charged when my Wildfly instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage and other resources while the machine is stopped, since those are billed separately by AWS.
What makes one instance type cost more per hour than another?
Your hourly rate follows the compute size you pick. Larger instances with more vCPUs and memory carry higher rates. Memory-optimized, network-optimized, and bare metal variants differ in hardware, which affects the rate. Burstable T-family sizes sit at the lower end. You pay for one instance at a time.
