Overview
Squid Easy Caching Proxy Server is a modular, high-performance reverse proxy and forward proxy server, generally comparable to Nginx and Apache Traffic Server. Generally, it is a caching proxy for the Web supporting HTTP and HTTPS. It does also support the protocols FTP, Gopher, SSL, and WAIS.
This Squid Image is specially pre-configured to allow you to save on bandwidth through content caching. This is a performance optimization mechanism in which data is delivered from the closest servers for optimal application performance. It reduces the total system load and increases the chances to find an object already existing in the local network.
Additionally, Squid offers rich access control, authorization, and logging environment to develop web proxy and content serving applications. As well as a rich set of traffic optimization options, most of which are enabled by default for simpler installation and high performance.

The hourly rate covers a ready-to-run caching proxy image built on Ubuntu 20.04. It handles HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and related protocols as both a forward and reverse proxy. The proxy starts automatically when the instance launches. You must open TCP port 3128 to use it.
The software fee meters running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume may still apply while stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
Each dimension bills one specific EC2 instance size per hour. Smaller burstable t2 and t3 sizes suit light or intermittent proxy traffic. High-memory, storage-dense, and accelerated sizes suit heavier caching loads. Match the instance to your expected traffic and cache size; the hourly rate scales with the size you pick.
