This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for AMI packaging, first-boot configuration and setup documentation. Run Unbound 1.26.1 as a loopback validating recursive DNS resolver on Ubuntu 24.04 with a synthetic DNSSEC zone and refused unsigned zone check.
This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for independent AWS packaging, validation, maintenance and setup documentation. NLnet Labs publishes Unbound under BSD terms; Software Sushi supplies the AMI recipe, pinned official source tarball build, first-boot trust anchors and signed synthetic zone, loopback ACL defaults, and setup documentation without claiming upstream endorsement.
Launch the approved version on t3.medium with at least 16 GiB encrypted root storage and at least 2 GiB RAM. Connect with AWS Systems Manager as ubuntu or restrict SSH to your administrative CIDR. First boot writes root trust anchors, secure.test keys and signed zone material; nothing sensitive is baked into the image. The recursive resolver listens on 127.0.0.1:53 and refuses other clients. Keep private DNSSEC keys out of recordings and tickets.
The standard software fee is described in the AWS Marketplace offer terms. EC2, EBS and data-transfer charges are billed separately. See the offer terms for applicable billing promotions.
After launch, wait for cloud-init to finish, then follow the bundled README for configuration, backup and day-2 operations. IAM is not required for the resolver itself. Opening the resolver beyond loopback is a customer change.

Try this product free for 5 days according to the free trial terms set by the vendor. Usage-based pricing is in effect for usage beyond the free trial terms. Your free trial gets automatically converted to a paid subscription when the trial ends, but may be canceled any time before that.
This listing uses a single usage-based pricing dimension tied to the t3.medium Amazon EC2 instance, billed per hour. You pay the software charge for each hour the instance runs, so your cost scales directly with runtime. There are no tiers or quantity commitments to choose between. The image launches in your own AWS account, meaning AWS infrastructure such as EC2 compute, storage, networking, and data transfer bills separately from this software charge. Any connected outside services you add also carry their own charges.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for the hourly t3.medium charge?
You pay for one t3.medium Amazon EC2 instance running the preconfigured image, billed per hour it runs. This instance type provides a general-purpose compute size suited to running the resolver software. The charge covers the software license on that instance, metered by actual runtime.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters hours the t3.medium instance actually runs. When you stop the instance, software charges stop accruing. Underlying AWS resources such as attached storage may still bill separately while the instance is stopped, since those are AWS infrastructure costs, not the software charge.
What costs are separate from this hourly software charge?
AWS infrastructure such as EC2 compute, EBS storage, networking, and data transfer bills separately. Any outside services you connect after launch carry their own charges too. You add your own credentials and run the instance in your own AWS account, so you control and pay for that infrastructure directly.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
