Vector Log Pipeline - Software Sushi

     Info
    Deployed on AWS
    Free Trial
This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for AMI packaging, first-boot configuration and setup documentation. Run Vector 0.58.0 on Ubuntu 24.04 as a loopback log pipeline with JSON ingest, VRL redaction, a bounded disk buffer, and a local file destination.

    Overview

This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for independent AWS packaging, validation, maintenance and setup documentation. Datadog authors Vector under MPL-2.0; Software Sushi supplies the AMI recipe, pinned official Vector 0.58.0 linux/amd64 archive, first-boot TLS and HTTP basic password, loopback defaults, and setup documentation without claiming upstream endorsement.

Launch the approved version on t3.medium with at least 16 GiB encrypted root storage and at least 2 GiB RAM. Connect with AWS Systems Manager as ubuntu or restrict SSH to your administrative CIDR. First boot writes TLS material and an HTTP basic password; nothing sensitive is baked into the image. Vector listens on loopback only: HTTPS JSON ingest at 127.0.0.1:8687, API health at 127.0.0.1:8686, and Prometheus metrics at 127.0.0.1:9598. It also reads JSON lines from a local directory, applies a reviewed VRL redaction program, and writes a local file through a bounded disk buffer. Keep credentials out of recordings and tickets.

The standard software fee is described in the AWS Marketplace offer terms. EC2, EBS and data-transfer charges are billed separately. See the offer terms for applicable billing promotions.

After launch, wait for cloud-init to finish, then follow the bundled README for configuration, backup and day-2 operations. IAM is optional until you add a customer S3 sink.

    Dimensions summary

This listing uses one usage-based pricing dimension tied to the t3.medium Amazon EC2 instance size, billed by the hour. You pay the hourly software rate only while the instance runs, so costs scale directly with how long you keep it running. There are no tiers or quantity commitments to choose between. The AMI deploys in your own AWS account, and AWS infrastructure charges such as EC2, storage, and data transfer are billed separately from this software rate.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

The hourly rate covers the Vector Log Pipeline software running on a t3.medium Amazon EC2 instance. This is a hardened Ubuntu Amazon Machine Image. You add your own credentials after launch and manage the infrastructure in your own AWS account.
The software rate meters running time. When the instance is fully stopped, software charges do not accrue. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes. You pay the hourly software rate only while the instance runs.
AWS infrastructure such as EC2 compute, storage, networking, and data transfer is billed separately. Any connected model providers, messaging platforms, or other external services may also charge for their own usage. These charges are not part of the software rate.
