AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run this monitoring software on. All 22 dimensions bill the same way; they differ only by compute capacity. Options span the t3, m3, m4, and m5 families, from smaller sizes like m3.medium and m5.large up to larger ones like m5.24xlarge and m4.16xlarge. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates. Choose the size that fits your workload, and your cost scales with the instance you select and the hours you run it.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do the hourly instance charges cover beyond the raw compute?
The hourly rate covers the deployment of Sensu with monitoring-as-code, continuous security scans, and a control dashboard to manage the application. It also includes 24/7 support with a 30-minute response time and issue resolution within about 48 hours on average.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
Hourly charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue software fees. Note that underlying AWS storage attached to a stopped instance may still incur AWS charges, but the software meters running hours only.
If I need more capacity, do I switch instance sizes or does it scale automatically?
You choose one EC2 instance size and pay its hourly rate. Moving to a larger size, such as from m5.large to m5.4xlarge, is a manual change you make when redeploying. The software supports auto-scaling of monitored resources, but your billed instance size does not change on its own.
