You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance that runs CloudBasix Zero-ETL inside your own VPC. The ten dimensions map to ten instance types across the m5, m6a, m6i, m7a, and m7i families. Each family comes in two sizes: xlarge and 2xlarge. The 2xlarge size gives you more compute capacity than the xlarge in the same family. You choose one instance type, and billing accrues only while that instance runs. No upfront commitment applies; costs scale with how long you run the instance.

What do the hourly instance charges actually pay for?
You pay for the EC2 instance that runs the CloudBasix Zero-ETL engine inside your own VPC. The engine reads changes from your source databases and lands them in your data lake or warehouse. Charges accrue per hour while the chosen instance runs, regardless of how much data you replicate.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or when no replication is running?
Software charges meter running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing hourly software charges. Idle time still counts if the instance stays running, since billing tracks running time, not data volume. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees separate from this software.
How do I decide between an xlarge and a 2xlarge instance size?
Both sizes run the same engine and connectors. The 2xlarge size gives more compute capacity per hour than the xlarge in the same family. Choose the larger size for higher change-data-capture throughput or more concurrent replication tasks. You pick one instance type, and billing follows that choice.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Once the instance is running, and port 80 opened in the security group, connect to it by pointing a browser to the public DNS root URL (or IP) at default www port 80. Login with user: admin, initial temporary password: {EC2 Instance ID}.
