This lightweight and secure Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 image is built from the official Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.5 ISO image, stripped down to include only the essential packages and required AWS software to make it integrate seamlessly into the AWS infrastructure (AWS CLI, Elastic Network Adapter & NVMe drivers). This results in a minimal image that is fast to boot, reduces storage requirements, and optimizes system responsiveness. The image is updated with the latest security patches and updates, providing protection against known vulnerabilities and ensuring the stability and reliability of your server environment. Also Red Hat Update Infrastructure is configured and ready to use without the need of a RedHat subscription or high costs of data traffic over the internet package installation and updates. Other features: key based authentication with 'ec2-user' username, cloud-init and SELinux enabled, root login disabled, automatic root disk resize based on the instance volume configuration. This image repackages free and open source software and all trademarks used inside are the property of their respective owners.

You pay by the hour for this ARM-based RHEL 9.5 image, billed only while an instance runs. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS ARM (Graviton) instance type, so your rate scales with the instance size and family you choose. Smaller sizes like medium and large cost less per hour, while larger sizes such as 8xlarge, 16xlarge, and metal variants cost more. You select the instance type that fits your compute, memory, or storage needs. The software license and support are bundled into each hourly rate, and RHUI updates are included at no extra charge.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running instance-hour on the ARM (Graviton) instance type you select. The rate ties to that specific instance size and family. You pay for each hour an instance runs, and partial usage is metered by AWS based on actual runtime.
The hourly software charge applies only while an instance runs. Stopped instances do not accrue the software fee. Note that stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage charges for attached volumes, which are billed by AWS and are not part of this software rate.
No. RHUI is configured in all RHEL images to keep the running image up to date at no additional cost. The software license and support are bundled into each hourly rate, so update access is included with the instance-hour you pay for.

Usage instructions
To connect to the VM:
- Use SSH to connect
- Username provisioned inside is: 'ec2-user'
- Use the SSH key provided at the launch of the instance
- Run 'sudo su -' to get a root prompt

Check the health and functionality of the virtual machine you have just launched:
- Go to your Amazon EC2 console and ensure you are in the correct region
- Select 'Instances' from the left menu and click on the newly launched instance
