You pay by the hour for this hardened Ubuntu 18 image, billed per running EC2 instance. There are no tiers or plans. Instead, pricing follows the instance type you choose. Each option maps to an AWS instance size, from small general-purpose types to large compute, memory, storage, and GPU-optimized machines. Your hourly software rate scales with the instance family and size you run. Larger or more specialized instances carry higher hourly rates. You can start, stop, or switch instance types anytime, and you only pay for hours the software runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you pick, billed per hour. The rate covers the Ubuntu 18 hardened operating system with Patch Guard, including updates, firewalls, and network protocols. You pay the software rate per instance, on top of any separate AWS infrastructure charges.
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue software charges. If you stop an instance, billing for that instance halts until you start it again. Underlying AWS storage or other AWS fees may still apply separately from the software rate.
Each instance type maps to its own hourly software rate. When you switch types, the new rate applies to the new instance for the hours it runs. Larger or more specialized families carry higher hourly rates. You can start, stop, or change types anytime and pay only for hours used.
