You pay by the hour for a hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 image running on AWS. Pricing follows the EC2 instance type you choose, so each dimension maps to one instance size. Smaller shared instances cost less per hour, while large, metal, and high-memory instances cost more. You are billed only for the hours you run. The hourly software charge applies only while an instance runs. Stopped instances do not accrue this fee. You may still owe separate AWS charges for attached storage on a stopped instance, but the hardened image rate meters running hours only.
Switching instance types changes your rate automatically for hours run on the new type. The hourly charge rises with instances offering more compute, memory, storage, or GPU capacity. You are billed at each type's rate for the hours you actually run it, with no upfront commitment.
