You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run this software on. The rate follows the size and family of the instance you choose, not the number of endpoints. Options span general-purpose (t3, m3, m4), compute-optimized (c3, c4), memory-optimized (r3, r4), storage-optimized (d2), high-I/O (i3), and GPU (g3, p2) families. Within each family, larger instance sizes carry a higher hourly rate. This licenses the software to patch 100 computers with a single user seat. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover, and how many computers can I patch?
You pay for each hour the EC2 instance runs the software. The license lets you patch up to 100 computers with a single user seat. Endpoint count does not change the hourly rate, so the same rate applies whether you patch a few devices or all 100.
Am I charged when the EC2 instance is stopped or powered off?
The software charge meters running instance-hours only. When the instance is fully stopped, the hourly software fee stops accruing. A stopped instance may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the software license bills running time only.
How do I choose an instance type, and can I move to a different one later?
Each instance type sets your hourly rate by family and size. General-purpose families suit steady patch workloads, while memory- or compute-optimized families fit heavier loads. You can stop one instance and launch another type; billing then follows the new instance's hourly rate.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
