You pay by the hour for the software running on an Amazon EC2 virtual machine. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the machine size you pick. Smaller instances like t3 or t2 sizes bill at lower hourly rates, while larger compute, memory, storage, and GPU instances bill at higher hourly rates. You are not locked into one option. You choose an instance type at launch and pay only for the hours you run it. No upfront commitment applies.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What exactly does the hourly rate cover, and what does the EC2 instance itself cost?
The hourly rate you see is the software charge for the pre-configured Playwright environment on that instance type. The underlying Amazon EC2 compute is billed separately by AWS at its own rate. Your total cost combines both charges for each running hour.
Am I charged the software rate when I stop the instance or close my SSH session?
The software rate meters running instance-hours. If you stop the instance, software charges stop accruing. Closing an SSH session does not stop the instance, so scripts running in tmux keep the instance active and charges continue. AWS storage fees may still apply to stopped instances.
Can I switch to a different instance type after I start, and how does that affect my rate?
You pick an instance type at launch and pay that type's hourly rate. To use a different size, launch a new instance of that type. Your rate then follows the new instance. There is no upfront commitment, so you can change sizes as your workload needs shift.

Connect to the instance with SSH to run the sample code:
Python: Switch to the Python directory using 'cd /home/ubuntu/Playwright/Python'. Run the sample script by typing 'python3 script.py'.
Node.js: Navigate to the NodeJS directory with 'cd /home/ubuntu/Playwright/NodeJS'. Execute the sample script by entering 'node script.js'.
Java: Switch to the Java directory using 'cd /home/ubuntu/Playwright/Java'. Run the sample script by typing 'xvfb-run mvn exec:java -Dexec.mainClass=com.example.Main'.
