AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for this hardened Ubuntu 20.04 LTS image, with no long-term contract required. Pricing is tied to the EC2 instance type you choose to run it on. Each dimension listed is a separate AWS instance size, spanning many families: general purpose, compute optimized, memory optimized, high memory, storage optimized, and GPU or accelerated nodes. Rates scale with the compute, memory, and hardware capacity of the instance you select. Larger instances within a family carry higher hourly rates. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Am I charged for the software image when an instance is stopped or powered off?
You pay the hourly software rate only while an instance runs. A stopped or powered-off instance stops accruing software charges. Underlying AWS storage fees for the volume may still apply while the instance exists, but the hardened image meters running hours only.
What does each hourly dimension actually cover on my bill?
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type running the hardened Ubuntu 20.04 LTS image. You pay per hour that instance runs. The rate reflects the instance's compute, memory, and hardware capacity. Running several instances bills each one separately at its own hourly rate.
What is included in the image and what must I pay for separately?
You get a hardened Ubuntu 20.04 LTS baseline built for secure defaults, tighter service exposure, and compliance mapping such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, NIST, CIS, and FIPS programs. Underlying AWS compute, storage, data transfer, and any premium support are billed separately from this software charge.
