You pay by the hour for this hardened AlmaLinux 9 image running on AWS Graviton (ARM-based) EC2 instances. Pricing scales with the instance type you choose. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance size, from small general-purpose options like t4g.nano up to large or bare-metal configurations. Instance families cover different workloads: general-purpose (m, a1, t4g), compute-optimized (c), memory-optimized (r, x2gd), storage-optimized (i4g, im4gn, is4gen), and HPC (hpc7g). The hourly software rate rises as instance size and resources increase. You add the separate AWS infrastructure charge on top.

What does one billed hour cover, and does the AlmaLinux software itself carry a separate charge?
You are billed per running instance-hour for one EC2 instance of the type you pick. This hourly rate is the software license for the hardened AlmaLinux 9 image. The underlying AWS compute charge for that instance is billed separately by AWS and added to the same invoice.
Am I charged the software rate when my instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A stopped or powered-off instance stops accruing the software rate. You may still pay AWS for attached storage or reserved resources while the instance is off, but that is a separate AWS infrastructure charge, not the image license.
How do I move to a bigger machine, and does that change my hourly rate?
Each instance type maps to its own hourly rate. Launching a larger instance, such as a metal or 16xlarge size, applies that type's rate for the hours it runs. There is no automatic tier upgrade. You choose the instance size at launch, and cost follows the type you select.
