Why Choose cloudimg AMIs?
This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for cloudimg support services.
Why Choose This Pre-Configured DBeaver AMI?
Instead of spending time downloading, installing, and configuring DBeaver on a Windows Server instance, this AMI delivers a ready-to-use database management workstation. Launch the instance, connect via RDP on port 3389, and start querying your databases within minutes. cloudimg provides 24/7 expert support for configuration, connection troubleshooting, and migration assistance.
DBeaver Community Edition is rated4.4 stars from 169 reviews on G2, praised as a "feature-rich, versatile database client" that simplifies managing multiple databases from a single interface.
Who This AMI Is For
This deployment model is ideal for DBAs and data analysts who need a secure, centralized Windows-based jump-box for multi-database work. Common scenarios include:
- Teams requiring a shared database workstation - A central Windows Server instance where multiple team members connect via RDP to manage databases across development, staging, and production environments.
- Organizations with Windows-mandated environments - Companies that restrict local software installs or require Windows-based tooling can deploy this AMI within their existing Windows infrastructure.
- Cross-database migration projects - A DBA connecting to both an on-premises Oracle instance and an AWS RDS PostgreSQL database from a single secure environment, running cross-database queries, comparing schemas, and exporting migration reports.
Deployment Requirements
- Instance type: t3.medium or larger recommended (minimum 4 GB RAM for comfortable use with multiple database connections)
- Storage: 30 GB EBS volume minimum
- Network: Security group must allow inbound TCP port 3389 (RDP) from your IP range
- Prerequisites: EC2 key pair for initial Windows password retrieval, VPC with internet access for database connectivity
- Pre-installed: Java runtime (required by DBeaver), JDBC drivers for major databases
- OS options: Windows Server 2019 or Windows Server 2022
Universal Database Connectivity
Connect to over 100 databases from a single interface including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, MariaDB, SQLite, DB2, Sybase, Teradata, Vertica, and all JDBC-compliant databases. Cloud database support includes AWS RDS, Aurora, and Redshift endpoints.
Advanced SQL Editor
Write and execute queries faster with code completion, syntax highlighting, SQL templates, error detection, and semantic checking. Execute multiple scripts simultaneously, view execution plans, and export results in multiple formats.
Data Migration and Transfer
Move data between databases with built-in migration wizards. Import from CSV, JSON, XML, Excel, and SQL scripts. Export query results or entire tables. Perform database-to-database transfers with schema migration and structure synchronization.
Visual Schema Design andER Diagrams
Generate entity-relationship diagrams automatically from existing databases. Design tables visually, manage columns, constraints, indexes, and foreign keys. Export diagrams for documentation and team collaboration.
Database Administration Tools
Monitor active sessions, manage user permissions, analyze query performance, view execution plans, and perform database maintenance tasks - all from a unified interface across multiple database engines.
Connection Security
Secure your database connections with SSH tunneling, SSL/TLS certificates, Kerberos authentication, LDAP integration, and Active Directory support. Manage credentials securely within the DBeaver credential store.
Note on DBeaver Community Edition
This AMI includes DBeaver Community Edition. Some advanced features such as NoSQL visual editors, MongoDB shell, and enterprise team collaboration require DBeaver PRO, which is licensed separately from dbeaver.com.
