This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for AMI packaging, first-boot configuration and setup documentation. Run an OpenSSH SFTP drop box on Ubuntu 24.04 with public-key chroot users, a loopback listener, and no password logins or shells.

    Overview

This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for independent AWS packaging, validation, maintenance and setup documentation. The OpenBSD project publishes portable OpenSSH under BSD-2-Clause, BSD-3-Clause, and ISC components. Software Sushi supplies the AMI recipe, signed Ubuntu OpenSSH packages for the 9.6p1 series, a first-boot isolated transfer user, a loopback-only listener, and setup documentation without claiming upstream endorsement.

Launch the approved version on t3.medium with at least 16 GiB encrypted root storage and at least 2 GiB RAM. Connect with AWS Systems Manager as ubuntu or restrict SSH to your administrative CIDR. First boot creates the transfer user, chroot, and an Ed25519 key pair. Nothing sensitive is baked into the image. SFTP listens on 127.0.0.1:2222 only. The host SSH service is unchanged. Keep private keys out of recordings and tickets.

The standard software fee is described in the AWS Marketplace offer terms. EC2, EBS and data-transfer charges are billed separately. See the offer terms for applicable billing promotions.

After launch, wait for cloud-init to finish, then follow the bundled README for configuration, backup and day-2 operations.

    Highlights

    • Signed Ubuntu OpenSSH SFTP with public-key chroot users and no shells.
    • Loopback listener on 127.0.0.1:2222; the host SSH service stays unchanged.
    • Bundled configuration, backup and day-2 operations documentation.

    Dimensions summary

This listing uses a single usage-based dimension billed per hour on a t3.medium Amazon EC2 instance. You pay for the software by the hour as the instance runs, with no upfront commitment or fixed term. Because billing follows actual run time, your cost scales directly with how long you keep the instance running. AWS infrastructure such as EC2, storage, and data transfer is billed separately from this software charge. There are no additional tiers or instance-size options to choose from in this listing.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

You get the software running on a t3.medium Amazon EC2 instance, a general-purpose size with 2 vCPUs and 4 GB of memory. The image launches in your own AWS account on a hardened Ubuntu base. You add your own credentials after launch and keep control of the instance.
The software charge meters running time by the hour, so a stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Underlying AWS fees differ. Stored data on EBS and other resources may still bill while the instance is off. The software license meters only the time the instance actually runs.
AWS infrastructure is billed separately, including EC2 compute, EBS storage, networking, and data transfer. If you connect outside services such as model providers or messaging channels, those providers charge for their own usage. No customer credentials are bundled in the image; you supply your own after launch.
