You pay by the hour for AlmaLinux 9.4 with vendor support, billed only while an instance runs. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type. Your hourly rate follows the size and family of the instance you pick, from small shared instances to bare-metal and high-memory options. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, storage, or accelerators carry higher hourly rates. GPU, compute, memory, storage, and high-performance families are all available. Choose the instance that fits your workload, and the matching rate applies for each running hour.

What does one billing unit cover for each instance type?
One unit is one hour that a single EC2 instance runs AlmaLinux 9.4 with vendor support. The rate matches the instance type you launch. Each running instance meters its own hours. If you run several instances, each accrues its own hourly charge separately.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running hours only. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. You still pay any underlying AWS costs, such as storage for the volume, while the instance sits idle. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
If I move to a larger instance type, how does my rate change?
Your rate follows the instance type you run. Switching to a larger instance applies that type's hourly rate for each running hour. The change is not automatic; you choose and launch the new instance. Instances with more CPU, memory, storage, or accelerators carry higher hourly rates.

The operating system does not save any sensitive information for the customers. The customer is responsible for saving any information, sensitive or not.
The data saved on the volumes is not encrypted by default.
All instance authentication must use key pair access, not password-based authentication.
AMIs does not contain passwords, authentication keys, key pairs, security keys, or other credentials.
PasswordAuthentication is set to NO in sshd_config.
The application does not make use of any encryption techniques.

Navigate to your Amazon EC2 console and verify that you're in the correct region.
Choose Instance and select your launched instance.
Select the server to display your metadata page and choose the Status checks tab at the bottom of the page to review if your status checks passed or failed.
