Shield Stratus is a cloud-native network enforcement tool that blocks malicious traffic in real time using Intrusion's proprietary threat intelligence to prevent breaches before they start.
Overview
Most cloud security tools tell you what already happened. Shield Stratus stops it from happening at all. Deployed directly into AWS VPCs, Shield Stratus enforces real-time network decisions that block known malicious infrastructure before attackers can establish command-and-control or exfiltrate data from your environment. If your workloads can reach the internet, attackers can reach them too. Security Groups and NACLs control access but cannot identify or block malicious infrastructure at global scale.
Shield Stratus operates in two modes. Protect mode actively blocks malicious traffic at the VPC level, preventing C2 callbacks, data exfiltration, and lateral movement across AWS accounts. Observe mode allows traffic to flow while collecting network metadata for threat hunting, compliance auditing, and policy validation. Switch between modes instantly without redeployment or downtime. Organizations typically see malicious outbound connections blocked immediately after deployment.

Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the instance size you choose at launch. Three options are available: t3.small, t3.medium, and t3.large. These represent vertical scaling choices, where each size sets the compute capacity of your deployment. You pick the size that fits your workload, and billing runs at a fixed hourly rate for that instance. Larger sizes provide more capacity through the same in-line enforcement model. This fixed hourly structure keeps billing predictable for direct customers and partners alike.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each t3.small, t3.medium, or t3.large charge covers the in-line enforcement software running on that instance size. Charges accrue per hour the instance runs. The underlying AWS compute and any related networking or storage from your AWS account are billed separately by AWS.
You pick the instance size when you launch. Larger sizes add compute capacity through the same in-line model. For horizontal scaling, the technology supports Auto Scaling Groups, so added instances each accrue their own hourly charge. Managing auto-scaled groups through the central console is on the roadmap.
Hourly software charges apply while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance does not run the enforcement software, so software charges stop. Note that stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage or resource fees, which AWS bills separately from the software.
