Tungsten Replicator for Redshift is a replication engine that provides high-performance and improved replication functionality into Amazon Redshift targets
Tungsten Replicator for Redshift Targets is a replication engine that provides high-performance and improved replication functionality into Amazon Redshift. It is designed to be used in conjunction with the "Tungsten Replicator for MySQL Extraction" AMI to provide a full end-to-end, real-time, data replication pipeline.
Alternatively, it is also available as a stand-alone, commercial product with support that can be downloaded from the Continuent website with a valid customer agreement.
What does Tungsten Replicator do?
Tungsten Replicator provides data replication from MySQL, MariaDB & Percona Server, including Amazon RDS MySQL and Amazon Aurora, to high-performance data analytics engines to derive insight from big data for better business decisions.
More specifically, it supports real-time data replication into MySQL (all versions), Oracle, PostgreSQL, AWS RedShift, Cassandra, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, Hadoop, MongoDB, Kafka and Vertica. We have an AMI for each of these targets available here on AWS.
This AMI supports replication into Amazon Redshift only, and requires an S3 bucket configured.
Who typically uses Tungsten Replicator?
Tungsten Replicator customers are typically SaaS, e-commerce, financial services, gaming and telco companies who rely on MySQL, MariaDB, Percona Server (and Continuent) to cost-effectively safeguard billions of dollars annual revenue.
Highlights
Tungsten Replicator features: platform agnostic, real-time heterogenous replication between MySQL and AWS Redshift.
The enhanced functionality and information provided by Tungsten Replicator allows for global transaction IDs, advanced topology support such as star, and fan-in, and enhanced latency identification.
Advanced filtering of data down to row-level and SSL for added security

Try this product free for 14 days according to the free trial terms set by the vendor. Usage-based pricing is in effect for usage beyond the free trial terms. Your free trial gets automatically converted to a paid subscription when the trial ends, but may be canceled any time before that.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for this replicator software based on the EC2 instance type you run it on. The listing offers 53 instance options across the t2, t3, t3a, m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5d, and m5ad families. These range from small shared-core instances to large compute-heavy and metal instances. Each instance size carries its own hourly rate, so your cost scales with the compute capacity you choose. You are billed only for the hours you run. Pick a size that matches your replication workload; there is no separate tier or feature-based pricing.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one billable hour cover, and does the software charge run when the instance is stopped?
You pay a software hourly rate tied to the EC2 instance type running the replicator. Charges accrue only while the instance runs. When you stop the instance, the software hourly charge stops. AWS may still bill underlying storage for a stopped instance separately from this software fee.
Does the hourly rate change with my replication volume or number of databases?
No. Your rate is set by the EC2 instance type you choose, not by data volume or database count. To handle heavier replication, you select a compute-heavier instance, which carries a higher hourly rate. The bill scales with instance size, not with rows replicated.
What is included, and does this cover the underlying EC2 compute cost?
This price covers the Tungsten Replicator software running on your chosen instance. AWS bills the EC2 compute and any storage separately. The replicator moves data into your target system; it does not store your data. You run it inside your own environment and manage database security yourself.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
By default, the AMI will launch with a 40Gb partition assigned to /opt/continuent. The software and associated logs will be generated here, therefore you should review the required storage space for this partition based on your activity levels. You should account for, at least the same amount of space used by your binary logs within the retention period of your source database.
Upon launch, connect to the host as the rocky using your preferred choice of Terminal application.
Issue the following command 'sudo su - tungsten' and the launch and setup wizard will automatically commence.
