You pay by the hour for a hardened Oracle Linux 8 machine image. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, each rate ties to the specific AWS EC2 instance type you run. Your hourly software cost scales with the instance size and family you pick. Smaller instances like t2.micro or c8a.medium carry lower hourly rates. Larger instances, such as metal and high-memory or GPU types, carry higher rates. You choose the instance that fits your workload, and the software charge follows that choice alongside your AWS compute cost.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You get a hardened Oracle Linux 8 machine image pre-configured to run on the AWS EC2 instance type you select. The rate covers the software license only. Your AWS compute, storage, and network usage are billed separately by AWS on the same invoice.
The software charge meters running time. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue the hourly software rate. Any attached AWS storage may still incur AWS fees while the instance is stopped, but those are separate from the software license charge.
Each instance type carries its own hourly software rate. The charge scales with the instance family and size you run. Smaller instances carry lower rates; metal, high-memory, and GPU instances carry higher rates. You pick one instance type, and its matching rate applies for each running hour.

Usage instructions
Usage Instructions: Once the instance is running, connect to it using a Secure Shell (SSH) client with the configured SSH key. The default username is 'cloud-user'.
Info regarding virtual machines The operating system does not save any sensitive information for the customers. The customer is responsible for saving any information, sensitive or not. The data saved on the volumes is not encrypted by default. All instance authentication must use key pair access, not password-based authentication. AMIs does not contain passwords, authentication keys, key pairs, security keys, or other credentials. PasswordAuthentication is set to NO in sshd_config. The application does not make use of any encryption techniques.
Troubleshooting Navigate to your Amazon EC2 console and verify that you're in the correct region. Choose Instance and select your launched instance. Select the server to display your metadata page and choose the Status checks tab at the bottom of the page to review if your status checks passed or failed.
