AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for Oracle Linux 8 running on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance type. The software fee is billed on top of standard AWS infrastructure charges. Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type, and the hourly rate scales with the instance's size and capability. Smaller general-purpose types like t3 or m-family cost less per hour than large memory-optimized (r-family), compute-optimized (c-family), storage-optimized (i- and d-family), or GPU and accelerated types. Metal and high-memory instances sit at the higher end. You select the type that fits your workload and pay only while it runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What exactly does one hourly unit cover for a given EC2 instance type?
One unit is one running instance of your chosen type, billed per hour. The rate covers the Oracle Linux 8 software license and vendor support for that single instance. AWS compute, storage, and network charges bill separately. Running two instances of the same type doubles the software charge.
Am I charged the software fee when my instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software fee meters running time only. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue this software charge. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes while the instance is stopped, but the Oracle Linux 8 license charge applies only while the instance runs.
If I switch to a bigger instance type, how does my charge change?
Each instance type maps to its own hourly rate. When you launch a different type, you pay that type's rate for the hours it runs. The change is not automatic; you choose the type at launch. Larger or more capable types carry higher hourly rates than smaller general-purpose ones.
