Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so pricing scales with the compute capacity you choose. The t2 and t3a families cover general-purpose sizes from medium up to 2xlarge. The m3 and m4 families cover larger memory and compute options, up to m4.16xlarge. You pick the instance that fits your workload and pay only for the hours it runs. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates. There is no upfront commitment; billing tracks actual usage.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension maps to a single running EC2 instance of that type. You are billed per hour the instance runs. The instance type sets the CPU, memory, and hourly software rate. Running two instances of the same type bills two hourly charges.
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage or other resource fees may still apply while the instance is stopped, but the software licence meters running time only.
The hourly price covers the running instance. Hossted also offers separate enterprise support plans for open-source applications, with options for troubleshooting, usage guidance, and 24x7 availability. Support tier details and response times are arranged directly with the vendor, not billed through these hourly dimensions.

After deployment, you can access your application at http://<public IP>. (It might take up to 15 minutes to be available post-deployment). The machine is accessible via SSH, default username: ubuntu. Where relevant, app login credentials are available on message of the day (and /etc/motd).
