iPerf3 is a tool for network performance measurement and tuning. It is a cross-platform tool that can produce standardized performance measurements for any network. iPerf has client and server functionality, and can create data streams to measure the throughput between the two ends in one or both directions. Typical iPerf output contains a time-stamped report of the amount of data transferred and the throughput measured.

You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance type you run this iPerf3 Server image on. Each dimension maps to one AWS instance type, so pricing scales with the compute size you pick. Smaller shared instances like t2 and t3 cost less per hour, while larger memory, compute, storage, and accelerated types (r, c, m, i, g, x, and related families) cost more. You choose the instance that fits your throughput and workload needs. There is no upfront commitment; charges accrue only for the hours each instance runs. Vendor support is included with the software.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually receive when I run one of these hourly instance types?
You get the iPerf3 Server software preinstalled on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, delivered as an Amazon Machine Image. Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. The hourly rate covers the software license on that instance size. Vendor support from Askforcloud is included.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges accrue only for the hours an instance runs. When you stop or terminate an instance, the hourly software charge stops. Stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are billed by AWS, not by this software license.
If I move to a bigger instance type, how does my bill change?
Each instance type has its own hourly rate. Switching to a larger family or size means you pay that type's hourly rate for the hours it runs. There is no upfront commitment, so you can change instance types and pay only for what each one runs.
