You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run this preconfigured invoicing appliance on. The software carries no separate license fee; billing is tied only to compute usage. Choose from many instance families, including general-purpose (t2, t3, m-series), compute-optimized (c-series), memory-optimized (r-series), storage-optimized (d-series), and newer flex and i-series types. Larger sizes within a family cost more per hour because they provide more CPU and memory. Pricing scales up as you pick bigger instances. You can start small and move to a larger size as demand grows.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit is one hour that your chosen EC2 instance runs. It covers the running compute — CPU and memory of that instance size. The invoicing software itself carries no separate license fee. Instance size determines the hourly rate, so a larger instance accrues a higher hourly charge.
The hourly software charge meters running time only. When the instance is fully stopped, the appliance stops accruing hourly charges. Note that AWS may still bill underlying storage, such as attached volumes and any Elastic IP, while the instance is stopped. Restarting resumes hourly billing.
Your AWS Marketplace subscription bundles free "getting started" help, unlimited Hub and setup questions, and one free level 1 support incident per month, accessed through the TurnKey Hub after registration. Additional paid support, custom development, and major upgrades are offered separately at discounted rates, not included in the hourly charge.

Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. Usage instructions
System Initialization:
After creating an EC2 instance with 1-Click, browse to http://<Public_DNS>/ for system initialization instructions.
Alternatively, log in via SSH as user 'admin' to the running instance. Be sure to use the SSH keypair selected during launch.
This inital step is required to set sensitive passwords & install security updates. You may also be asked to set a domain name for your server. If this is required, then it must be a valid domain name (i.e. have DNS configured).

This may redirect to https and/or the domain set at initialisation.
OS commands via SSH
Log into the running instance via SSH as user 'admin', using the SSH keypair set at launch time. Use sudo to run commands requiring root access.

Remove scary browser warnings
By default TurnKey AMIs ship with randomly generated self signed SSL/TLS certifcates. This will cause scary warning in your web browser When accessing https.
To remove the browser warnings, you will need to get a SSL/TLS certificate signed by an authorized Certificate Authority (CA). The recommended way to do that is to get a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate. TurnKey comes with a built in tool to do that within your instance:

Ensure that you have your chosen domain DNS records configured and your domain resolves to your instance.
