AWS for SAP
AWS Blog: Simplify Deployment of SAP BTP with AWS Marketplace
The enterprise resource planning (ERP) landscape is undergoing a major shift toward cloud-native solutions and marketplace-driven procurement. At the forefront of this transformation, SAP and Amazon Web Services (AWS) continue to strengthen our strategic partnership, to help organizations of all sizes accelerate innovation and run mission-critical processes in the cloud.
At SAP Sapphire 2025, Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) and SAP SE jointly launched SAP Business Technology Platform Services (BTP) on AWS Marketplace in North America for three of the top most widely used services: SAP Integration Suite, SAP Build, and HANA Cloud. SAP BTP is the innovation layer for SAP, enabling customers to extend, integrate, and innovate their SAP environments while keeping the core clean. Today, 76 BTP services are available across 11 AWS regions, with the US West (Oregon) Region among the most recent to add BTP services, and Milan set to go live with BTP services in the second half of 2025.
In this blog, we will discuss the benefits of procuring SAP BTP through AWS Marketplace including simplification of vendor on-boarding and billing, and improvements in governance and compliance.
Why Business Leaders Choose AWS Marketplace for SAP BTP
As organizations accelerate their digital transformation, they are looking for ways to simplify procurement, optimize financial governance, and unlock innovation without adding complexity.
- Simplified Procurement – Traditional software procurement can be time-consuming, often requiring multiple rounds of legal review, compliance checks, and vendor review. AWS Marketplace helps streamline this experience by allowing organizations to purchase through their existing AWS supplier relationship and contractual terms. This reduces friction, shortens procurement cycles, and helps teams move from planning to execution more quickly.
- Unified Billing – Managing separate invoices for multiple vendors can be a major pain point for finance teams. With AWS Marketplace, all BTP charges are consolidated into your existing AWS bill, giving you a single, unified view of your cloud spending. This makes it easier to reconcile costs, forecast budgets, and provide visibility to stakeholders across finance, IT, and procurement. The result is a simplified financial model that reduces administrative overhead and strengthens cost governance.
- Deploy on AWS – BTP has the “Deployed on AWS” badge in AWS Marketplace, which means it is 100% deployed on AWS infrastructure. BTP can be deployed quickly, leverages the strong security posture and operational excellence of AWS infrastructure, and may qualify for additional AWS customer benefits.
- Cost Attribution and Chargeback – For organizations operating across multiple business units, accurate cost allocation is critical for governance and accountability. AWS tagging capabilities make it easy to attribute BTP usage to specific departments, projects, or regions. This enables transparent chargeback models and detailed reporting, helping organizations to optimize spend and to plan future investments more effectively. Business leaders gain confidence knowing costs are visible, predictable, and aligned with strategic priorities.
- Reduced Risk and Faster Time-to-Value – Speed and compliance often conflict in traditional procurement processes. AWS Marketplace solves this by providing a pre-approved, compliant purchasing framework, reducing legal complexity and ensuring alignment with corporate policies. This minimizes risk while accelerating deployment timelines, allowing businesses to launch innovative initiatives faster. According to a Forrester study (Cost savings and business benefits enabled by AWS Marketplace) commissioned by AWS, customers experienced a 60% time savings due to streamlined procurement and a 30% faster time-to-market with streamlined deployment on AWS.
Customer Journey
As organizations migrate to SAP Cloud ERP Private or Public (formerly RISE with SAP or Grow with SAP), adopting BTP helps customers implement SAP’s recommended clean core strategy. SAP BTP acts as the digital foundation for extending and integrating your SAP environment, without disrupting the core ERP system. Let’s take a closer look at the three SAP BTP services currently available on the AWS Marketplace.
- Seamless Integration: SAP Integration Suite enables connectivity across SAP and non-SAP systems. With hundreds of pre-built connectors, integration flows, and APIs, customers can accelerate the integration of critical business processes across diverse systems. This helps simplify complex architectures, reduce IT overhead, and ensure consistent data across the enterprise.
- Accelerate Innovation: SAP Build is a low code/no code application development platform that enables business users, developers, and IT teams to collaboratively build apps and automate workflows without writing code, while adhering to SAP’s clean core principles. Customers can also take advantage of the AWS and SAP AI Co-Innovation Program launched in May to deploy generative AI use cases leveraging the combined capabilities of SAP, AWS, and GSI/ISV Partners using SAP GenAI Hub within BTP.
- Real-Time Insights and Data Unification: SAP HANA Cloud is a fully managed in-memory database that supports both transactional and analytical workloads in real time. It enables unified data access with high performance and scalability across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
Here are three use cases to consider
Use Case 1: Automating PPE Compliance with Amazon Rekognition and SAP Environment, Health, and Safety Solution (SAP EHS) – To comply with safety regulations from agencies like the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and European Commission, organizations must ensure that employees and visitors wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Amazon Rekognition’s PPE detection feature enables companies to analyze video or image feeds from on-site cameras at physical locations to automatically verify whether individuals are wearing required gear such as face and hand covers. These insights are sent to SAP Integration Suite, which acts as the bridge between AWS and SAP EHS solution within the SAP Cloud ERP. With these insights, companies can trigger downstream actions such as alerts, compliance logs, or even escalation workflows, based on real-time detection. You can explore this use case further, including its reference architecture, in the SAP Discovery Center Mission.
Use Case 2: Triggering SAP Business Processes from Amazon Monitor Events and Generative AI Hub – In industrial environments such as factories and warehouses, real-time equipment data is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency. Amazon Monitron provides an end-to-end solution, including hardware sensors and software, to detect anomalies and enable predictive maintenance. To act on these insights, Monitron sends the events to SAP’s business actions framework via BTP. Notifications or maintenance orders can then be automatically generated with SAP Plant Maintenance or Asset Management modules. SAP Integration Suite, Advanced Events Mesh facilitates this event transmission between AWS and SAP systems. Additionally, the solution integrates with Generative AI Hub to perform tasks like summarization or intent recognition further enhancing operational decision making. You can explore this use case further, including its reference architecture, in the SAP Discovery Center Mission.
Use Case 3: Deriving Business Insights from SAP HANA Cloud using Generative AI and Amazon SageMaker – As businesses struggle with growing data volumes and scattered systems, extracting actionable insights becomes increasingly complex. Generative AI offers a compelling solution by enabling users to query data using natural language prompts. With SAP data stored in SAP HANA Cloud, services like Amazon SageMaker or Amazon Bedrock can be used to interpret these prompts and generate the appropriate analytical queries. This capability can also be surfaced through a custom web app built with SAP Build Apps, providing a simple interface for business users to interact with and analyze data, without needing advanced technical skills.
These examples illustrate how BTP on AWS provides a foundation for AI-powered innovation, helping enterprises modernize processes, improve agility, and deliver measurable business outcomes, all without introducing risk to the core ERP system.
