Overview
From January 1, 2026, (for your Pay by Invoice Mexico-based account(s)) and from February 1, 2026 (for your credit card Mexico-based account(s)), Amazon Web Services Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V. ("AWS Mexico") will replace Amazon Web Services, Inc ("AWSI") as the reseller of AWS cloud services. Key information about AWS services billing and tax requirements effective January 1, 2026, and
February 1, 2026, respectively, is outlined below.
Please review the AWS México SOR- FAQs for more detail.
Cloud Service Customer
From January 1, 2026, (for your Pay by Invoice Mexico based account(s)) and from February 1, 2026 (for your credit card Mexico based account(s)), AWS Mexico will be the reseller for AWS cloud services. With this launch, eligible customers (Pay by Invoice and Credit Card accounts) in Mexico will purchase AWS cloud services from AWS Mexico instead of AWSI.
AWS pricing does not include applicable taxes.
For Mexico based accounts who will purchase AWS cloud services from AWS Mexico starting January 1, 2026 for Pay by Invoice based account(s) and from February 1, 2026, for Credit Card based account(s), these customers will be charged VAT at 16% on applicable services. AWS Mexico will issue compliant Digital Tax Invoices (Comprobantes Fiscales Digitales por Internet or “CFDIs” per its acronym in Spanish) for all cloud services purchases.
AWS Marketplace Customer
AWS Marketplace services will continue to be invoiced by AWSI. You will receive separate invoices from AWSI for these services.
Telecommunications Services
AWS Mexico will not provide telecommunications services.
Such services will continue to be sold by Amazon Media Communications Services, LLC (AMCS LLC).
AWS Training and ProServe Customer
AWS Training and AWS Professional Services will continue to be sold and invoiced by AWS Mexico.
Tax Registration Numbers
Tax information is required if you wish to receive tax-compliant (CFDI) invoices from AWS Mexico. You will need to go to the Tax Settings page to provide your tax information. The information collected includes legal name, Customer Tax ID (Registro Federal de Contibuyentes or “RFC” per its acronym in Spanish), Customer Tax address including Zip Code (Domicilio fiscal incluyendo el código postal), Customer Tax regime (Regimen fiscal del receptor) and Customer tax document (Constancia de Situación Fiscal). The uploaded Constancia de Situación Fiscal (CSF) document will be used to extract the information from the government database, Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT), and compared against the information you provided for verification.
Tax Invoices and Bills
AWS Mexico will issue a supplemental invoice that will be similar to the commercial invoice that customers receive from AWSI. AWS Mexico will also provide Digital Tax Invoices (Comprobantes Fiscales Digitales por Internet or “CFDIs” per its acronym in Spanish) in both PDF and XML format.
If there is no valid tax information on the account, AWS Mexico will generate generic CFDIs.
Invoice documents are emailed to your payer account's root email address, billing contact, and alternate contact (where provided), if email delivery is enabled in your account preferences. Documents are also available in the AWS Billing Console.
How does AWS determine if your account is located in Mexico?
At the moment of invoicing, AWS determines the location of each individual account, based on certain information, including your RFC, your Billing address and your Contact address. The result of AWS’ determination is shown as the “Tax Address” on the Tax Settings page of each account.
If you have a consolidated billing family, please note that each account is assessed individually: linked accounts do not inherit the Tax Address or the RFC of the payer account.
The payer account can view the Tax Address of all their linked accounts on their own Tax Settings page of each account.
