Overview
Following the decision by Works Human Intelligence (WHI) to pursue a software-as-a-service (SaaS)-first strategy on Amazon Web Services (AWS), its developers wanted to gain more AWS skills and enhance their proficiency. This initiative was primarily aimed at aligning employee skills with the company's strategic goal of delivering SaaS products to their customers.
Through study groups and other learning opportunities, WHI already had resources for employees to gain AWS knowledge and prepare for obtaining AWS Certifications. However, there was still a certain number of engineers who had no practical experience with AWS. By adopting AWS Skill Builder, an online learning center from AWS Training and Certification, developers have accessed hundreds of self-paced learning plans and participated in AWS Jam and AWS GameDay events. Currently, one in three engineers and developers at WHI are learning with the help of AWS Skill Builder. The increase of SaaS product customers prompted developers to enhance their skills and the company has also observed a 6.7x increase in efficiency among teams within the product division.
