Best Tool for managing our data
What do you like best about the product?
User freindly web console and easy to manage. Single console for all worlkloads makes easier to manage everything.

Lack of real-time replication of data base applications.

Protecting company data and meeting complienaces.
Great Reliable Mail Backup Solution
What do you like best about the product?
Backup Plans, - infinite incremental backup plan is something that I really liked about the product

Sometimet the interface does not show full options so have to log off and then log in back after a couple of minutes.

Storing backups, Recovering and taking up critical mails backups

the best thing about Commvault B&R is the ease of recovery from a backup using Commvault

Commvault solves a big problem of disaster recovery in our company. Such a great piece of software and an absolute lifesaver on many occasions!
A stable solution for Red Hat Linux
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
Commvault is a stable solution for Red Hat Linux.
What needs improvement?
It takes a lot of steps to implement backups. We have to do a lot of planning to make the solution work properly. It takes some time to create every policy. It's an easy task, but there are many steps. It's not as easy as using Veeam.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used Commvault for nine months as a supporting engineer.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate Commvault eight out of 10 for stability.
How was the initial setup?
Setting up Commvault is complex and it involves many steps. After you configure the storage, you need to set your client's policies and add a proxy server if necessary.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I prefer selling Commvault to enterprises. It's appropriate for a company that has a headquarters plus four or five offices. It isn't ideal for a small business. The price is okay if you have the budget of a large enterprise. Aside from the license, the only additional cost is cloud fees if you are using cloud infrastructure.
What other advice do I have?
I rate Commvault Backup and Recovery 10 out of 10. I would recommend Commvault if a company has huge backup needs and a sufficient budget. If the price isn't an issue, you shouldn't compromise.
Backups Done Right
What do you like best about the product?
The product does what it says. If it is in the commcell it is backed up. The interface in the product is clear and concise. The menus do what they say and following the process is easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
It requires and good knowledge of the terms used. If you learn the terms the prosy is easy to use
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows to backup our fleet. Virtual, physical and databases . Once it is set up it just works. Great reporting as well.

Identifying data sprawl, maintaining retention based on SLA-based rules/plans, migrating and recovering workloads across hypervisors/platforms.

I like the number of offerings and the help that Commvault provides.

I'm not sure that I have a downside specifically. We are exploring the iSeries module and keeping an open mind. We have heard concerns.

Secure storage and encrypting data. Currently focussed on immutability.
Complete data protection from a single pane of glass!
What do you like best about the product?
The ease om management and configuration, and the full suite of tools that can be used from a single interface. We manage multiple data centers from a single console, and it is very easy to identify and resolve any failed backup or flash replication jobs.

For a state agency, with limited funds, the one drawback is the cost of licensing. CommVault does offer a great EDU discount program. However, the results and peace of mind you get from knowing that your data is protected faw outweighs the cost

CommVaault helps us maintain an efficient backup infrastructure that stretches across multiple datacenters. This is done through a single interface, and is much more efficient than our old Java based NetBackup tools.
Commvault is comprehensive, powerful, and getting better with each release.

Commvault is tried and true regarding legacy backup designs, but it is also industry-leading technology for backing up new spaces like hybrid and cloud. Commvault can be as simple as you need or as comprehensive as you want.
What do you dislike about the product?
Commvault's strength is also its weakness. It's a powerful platform, but I would never classify Commvault as "easy." However, Commvault has a fantastic certification program that can get anyone up to speed on the latest features, functions, and best practices.

Commvault is an end-to-end solution for data protection and disaster recovery, but it can do even more. Commvault makes auditing a breeze with its built-in reporting and available data analytics.
